Empowering Research Skills: Workshop on Design of Experiment Methodology, UiTM Pulau Pinang

October 2, 2024 – The Mechanical Engineering Studies department at the College of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Pulau Pinang, in collaboration with the Intelligent and Sustainable Manufacturing Center (ISMaC), hosted a research workshop focused on the Application of Design of Experiment (DOE) Methodology for Process and Product Optimization. This workshop aimed to enhance the experimental research skills of postgraduate students and academic staff, while promoting the production of high-quality, impactful research publications.

The event featured two distinguished speakers, Dr. Muhammad Akmal Mohd Zakaria and Ts. Dr. Abdul Rahman Hemdi, both recognized experts in experimental methodologies. Their insightful presentations introduced participants to advanced tools for experimental design, including the Taguchi Orthogonal Array, factorial design, and response surface methodology (RSM).

Throughout the workshop, attendees gained a comprehensive understanding of DOE principles and their practical applications in optimizing processes and products. The program included a combination of theoretical sessions and interactive, hands-on activities, enabling participants to structure and analyze experiments for robust, statistically sound results. The workshop successfully strengthened the research capabilities of attendees and encouraged excellence in academic research through the adoption of sophisticated experimental approaches. This event underscored UiTM Pulau Pinang’s commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and scientific advancement in the field of engineering on a global scale.
