22 June 2024 – The Academy of Language Studies at UiTM Seremban, in collaboration with Sekolah Menengah Agama Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, successfully organised a University Social Responsibility (USR) initiative aimed at nurturing English language proficiency among secondary school students. The initiative, known as the Highly Immersive Program (HIP), specifically targeted Form 4 and Form 5 students, offered a different learning experience through interactive outdoor activities.  

As part of the program, 80 students were provided with magazines and tasked with completing critical reading and creative writing exercises as they moved between various checkpoints. The activities, carried out in a group setting, were designed to enhance literacy skills while promoting teamwork and critical thinking. The CReW RD (Critical Reading and Creative Writing Using Reader’s Digest) segment was a central feature of the initiative, encouraging students to develop a passion for reading and writing in a dynamic, outdoor environment.

This collaborative initiative not only enhanced language skills among secondary school students but also brought significant benefits to UiTM Seremban. By spearheading the programme, the university strengthened its reputation as a key player in educational innovation and community engagement. The successful execution of this USR project has showcased UiTM’s commitment to fostering academic excellence beyond its campus, reinforcing its role as a socially responsible institution that nurtures partnerships with local schools and international stakeholders.

Moreover, the programme has opened new opportunities for UiTM to engage in further collaborations with schools and international organisations like Reader’s Digest Asia Pacific. It has also provided UiTM educators with a platform to apply their skills in real-world settings, boosting the university’s visibility and solidifying its position as a leader in shaping impactful educational programmes. The event underscored UiTM’s mission of not only educating its students but also contributing to the growth of the broader community, leaving a lasting impact on both the university and the participating school.
