UiTM Perak Landscape Architecture Students Clinch Gold Award at International Art Jamming Competition 2024

Kuala Langat, 26th May 2024 – The PIKASO team from UiTM Perak has secured the prestigious Gold Award at the International Art Jamming Competition 2024, hosted jointly by Gamuda Parks, Gamuda Cove, and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). The team of emerging artists from the Landscape Architecture Programme, Muhammad Nazmy Azhary bin Mohd Nazry, Muhammad Amri Fikri bin Noor Azman, and Khaleeda binti Mohd Khair, supervised by LAr. Dr. Zulkefle Hj Ayob, claimed the top honour along with a cash prize of RM5,000 and Gamuda Play tickets. Their artwork titled “ChromaWild,” distinguished by its vibrant colours and innovative concept, captivated both the jury and the public at the event.

UiTM Shah Alam’s Seni Halus 03 secured the Silver Award, earning a cash prize of RM3,000, while Alt-Ego from UiTM Perak secured the Bronze Award with a RM1,000 prize. Additionally, five consolation prizes, each carrying a cash prize of RM500, were awarded from a pool of 20 finalists.

This unique art jamming session, themed ‘Harmony in Diversity: Artistic Expressions for Biodiversity Conservation,’ coincided with the International Day for Biological Diversity and FiestaRASTA 2024. The competition aimed to celebrate nature’s diversity, promote creativity, and foster diverse viewpoints. It also aimed to raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity conservation, contributing to the promotion of harmony and diversity in the current environmental landscape. All the points of view were creatively painted on the AO-size canvas within four hours at The Hive, Gamuda Cove.

The artworks were evaluated by a panel of four judges comprising professionals from Gamuda Land, the Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia (ILAM), and a freelance mural artist.
