16 September 2024 – The Global Project-Based Learning (gPBL) 2024, held from 1st to 15th September 2024 at UiTM Penang Branch, brought together an inspiring international collaboration between four prestigious institutions: Fukuoka Institute of Technology (Japan), Hosei University (Japan), Universitas Negeri Malang (Indonesia), and UiTM Penang Branch (Malaysia).
This program aimed to foster cross-cultural knowledge exchange and hands-on learning in the field of robotics. With participants from different nations, the gPBL 2024 provided an exciting platform for students to collaborate and share their expertise in tackling engineering challenges, highlighting innovative solutions within a global context.
The initiative also featured significant involvement from the industry, with National Instruments (NI) lending 25 EV3 units and providing training, further cementing an industrial-academic partnership. The program’s collaborative spirit bridged the gap between UiTM and its international university partners, while enhancing participants’ technical and creative problem-solving skills.
The event concluded with final presentations, where teams showcased their project outcomes, evaluated by distinguished judges. The robotics competition was assessed by Mr. Tan Ji Sheen and Mr. Liew Wei Li from NI, while the presentation competition was judged by A. Rani Ahmad, General Manager of Finance, Project Delivery & Technology, PETRONAS, and Ahmad Azimi Mat Taridi, General Manager of the Transformation Office, Project Delivery & Technology, PETRONAS. PETRONAS also generously sponsored special gifts for the champions, runners-up, and second runners-up of the presentation competition, making the event even more memorable for the participants.
Special appreciation is extended to NI, particularly Ms. Azian and Mr. Tan Ji Sheen, for their continuous support and contribution to the program. Their assistance was instrumental in providing both equipment and training to ensure the success of the program.
The gPBL 2024 has undoubtedly left a lasting impact, promoting knowledge sharing, fostering global connections, and preparing students for the rapidly evolving world of technology and robotics.
