UiTM Puncak Alam Trainees Excel in Internship Program at Mandarin Oriental Doha

PUNCAK ALAM, 10 APRIL – Nine students from the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Puncak Alam Campus, have successfully completed a prestigious six-month international internship at the world-renowned Mandarin Oriental, Doha, Qatar.

The programme, which ran from October 2025 to March 2026, involved eight Bachelor of Science (Hons.) Culinary Arts Management students and one Bachelor of Science (Hons.) Foodservice Management student. This strategic placement provided a high-impact platform for students to immerse themselves in international hospitality standards and multicultural kitchen operations.

The culinary delegation comprising Muhammad Syahid Anwar, Muhammad Farihin, Darwisy Iskandar, Izz Zulfiqar, Akhmal Hakim, Tuan Mohamad Firdaus, Muhamad Ammar, and Muhammad Akram worked alongside global culinary experts. Meanwhile, Muhammad Alfian, from the Foodservice Management programme, gained extensive exposure across multiple international food and beverage outlets.

Muhammad Syahid Anwar, representing the student group, noted that the hands-on experience at a world-class establishment significantly enhanced their technical competencies and professional adaptability. “The exposure to a fast-paced, global environment has built our confidence to compete on an international level,” he shared.

The internship also tested the resilience of the partnership and the university’s crisis management. Despite regional conflicts arising toward the end of the attachment, the safety of the students remained the top priority. Through seamless coordination between UiTM Top Management, Mandarin Oriental’s leadership, and Wisma Putra, all nine students were successfully assisted and repatriated safely to Malaysia.
