UiTM FSPPP Strengthens Global Ties through Visiting Professor Programme with Macquarie University

SEREMBAN, 12 JANUARY 2026 – The Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies (FSPPP), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), successfully organised its Visiting Professor Programme featuring Distinguished Professor Rahat Munir from Macquarie University, Australia, from 9 December 2025 until 13 December 2025. This week-long initiative united approximately 400 participants, including staff and students from UiTM as well as academic representatives from international partners in Indonesia and Thailand, focusing on bridging the gap between local administrative practices and global governance trends.

The programme included dedicated publication workshops targeting postgraduate students and staff, offering hands-on activities on publishing articles in high-ranking journals and one-to-one consultations to review journal articles. It is expected that these sessions will result in at least three articles published through international collaboration, directly supporting the Faculty’s performance index (PI) on publications. Professor Rahat also delivered two major lectures titled “Global Trends in Governance and Administration” and “The Future of Corporate Governance,” which highlighted emerging patterns in worldwide administrative practices.

During his lectures, Professor Rahat emphasised how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and ESG imperatives act as the primary drivers of organisational success. He noted that the future economy will be human-centric, with a projected 70% of required expertise shifting toward soft skills—including critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and ethical practice—by 2035. These insights were particularly valuable for academics and practitioners as they addressed employment opportunities aligned with technological advancements and the emergence of Gen Z and Alpha students.

The visit of Distinguished Professor Rahat Munir has catalysed strategic impacts on the faculty, particularly in research and professional development. These workshops have fostered broader partnerships and encouraged active collaboration with international universities, intensifying the university’s global prominence. Furthermore, the visit influenced teaching and curriculum development by encouraging the faculty to embed SDG and ESG imperatives into core governance, ethics, and strategy subjects. Moving forward, the faculty looks to enhance its international engagement with Macquarie University to further elevate its global rankings and visibility.
