
Penang, 21 August 2025 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Penang, through its Centre of Postgraduate Studies, in collaboration with the Advanced Mechanics (AdMech) Research Group and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, successfully hosted the inaugural Postgraduate Research Image Competition (PRIC) 2025. This groundbreaking initiative marks the first of its kind in Malaysia, offering a dynamic platform for postgraduate students to showcase their research through compelling visual storytelling.
Held at the university level, PRIC 2025 attracted 63 participants from UiTM campuses nationwide. Each contestant presented their research using creative and impactful imagery, reflecting the competition’s mission to foster a culture of research, innovation, and artistic expression among postgraduate scholars.
The closing ceremony was officiated by Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Hajjah Siti Noraini Sulaiman, Deputy Rector of Academic Affairs, alongside other UiTM Penang leaders including Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Kay Dora Abdul Ghani, Ts. Dr. Muhamad Faizal Pakir Mohamed Latiff, and Dr. Norhusna Mohamad Nor.

Wan Noni Afida binti Ab Manan was announced as the grand prize winner for her research titled “ANBO: A Biomass-Derived Advanced Adsorbent for Sustainable Wastewater Treatment.” The Facebook Most Likes Award went to Sitti Fatimah binti Ajui for her visual piece “If We Make It, Should They Be More Protected?” Winners received cash prizes and certificates, and their works will be featured at Laman Perdana, UiTM Penang.
Programme Director Dr. Ahmad Sufian Abdullah emphasized that PRIC 2025 successfully ignited a stronger research spirit among students, offering an innovative and accessible way to communicate scientific findings to the broader community. The university hopes to continue this initiative as a sustainable effort to build confidence and inspire future research excellence.
