UiTM Jengka, 7 August 2025 – A group of lecturers from the Academy of Language Studies (APB), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Pahang, Jengka Campus, successfully organised a University Social Responsibility (USR) programme entitled “Mastering Interpersonal Skills” with students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jengka 12. The participants comprised underprivileged students from a rural
school community, and the programme aimed to enhance their digital, communication and social abilities. This initiative also served as a continuation of a previous programme held at the same school in May, titled “Interpersonal Literacy Programme.”
This time, the selected participants were comprised of 30 students from Form 2. As aligned with SDG 4 – Quality Education, it aims to educate students on utilising online applications, specifically CANVA, to improve their visual presentations. Simultaneously, they received advice on enhancing their presentation skills before an audience.
Initially, the speakers engaged in ice-breaking activities with the students to pique their interest. In the first session, students were introduced to the online application to create more engaging presentation visuals. They were then instructed to use the application to present their selected topics, such as "My School" and "My Dream Job" in English language. The response from the students were positive. For some students, they stated that this was the first time they had learned about the CANVA application and expressed considerable interest in using it in the future. The students said that this knowledge is highly beneficial for their preparation to enter higher education institutions. UiTM Pahang Branch recognises this project is a valuable opportunity to give back to the local community while simultaneously fostering students’s enthusiasm for pursuing higher education.
