Jengka, 19 June 2025 – Perpustakaan Al-Bukhari, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Pahang, Kampus Jengka, proudly achieved third place in the Poster Competition at the prestigious 19th Congress of Southeast Asian Librarians (CONSAL XIX), held from 16 to 19 June 2025.
The award-winning poster, titled “City Nature Challenge 2025 Pahang, Malaysia – Strengthening Library Partnerships for Citizen Science”, highlighted the library’s collaborative efforts with academic and public libraries, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), student associations, and local communities. The project underscored the library’s pivotal role in promoting biodiversity awareness, scientific literacy, and community engagement through citizen science initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The poster was presented by Muniratul Husna Mohamad Zaki.
In addition to the poster recognition, Nurfarawahidah Badruesham, Senior Librarian at Perpustakaan Al-Bukhari, represented UiTM as a speaker at the congress. She delivered two impactful presentations:
- “Libraries Empowering SDGs through Citizen Science: Insights from the Borneo Adventures Program”
- “Bridging Knowledge: The Evolving Role of Academic Libraries in Citizen Science”
“These achievements reflect the unwavering commitment of UiTM librarians in advancing inclusive knowledge sharing and fostering regional collaboration,” said Hajah Rosnita binti Ja’afar, Head of Perpustakaan Al-Bukhari, UiTM Cawangan Pahang. “Their contributions have significantly enhanced the visibility and impact of UiTM libraries within the Southeast Asian library community.”
The congress was officially inaugurated by YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, who emphasized the transformative role of libraries in national development:
“Libraries are not just for storing books. They are platforms that nurture awareness and a love of reading, supporting growth through knowledge.”
UiTM’s active participation in CONSAL XIX has not only strengthened regional networks but also opened new avenues for cross-border collaboration, reaffirming the university’s commitment to empowering libraries as dynamic agents of positive change in society.
