PULAU PINANG, 30 June 2025 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and NI Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (now part of Emerson) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a pivotal step in strengthening strategic collaboration between academia and industry.
The signing ceremony, held at UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang, was attended by key representatives from both institutions. NI Malaysia was represented by Mrs. Noor Azian Abdull Wahab, Chief Community Impact & STEM, and Mr. Tan Jie Sheen, STEM Program Lead. UiTM was represented by Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Haji Ahmad Rashidy Razali, Rector of UiTM Penang Branch; YBrs. Dr. Ahmad Asri Abd Samat, Deputy Rector of Student Affairs; and Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Alhan Farhanah, Head of Centre, Electrical Engineering Studies.
Unlike the earlier Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed in August 2024, which focused on the establishment of the RM400,000 NI Embedded System Lab, this MoU expands the collaboration to include joint research, publications, institutional exchanges, and enhancement of teaching and learning. It also promotes knowledge sharing and industry insights, aligning academic strengths with real-world demands.

A key initiative under this MoU is the continued support for the Global Project-Based Learning (gPBL) programme, which enables UiTM students and staff to collaborate on real-world, cross-border projects with international peers and industry experts. This initiative enhances students’ technical, problem-solving, and cross-cultural competencies—preparing them for success in a globally connected workforce.
In his remarks, Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Haji Ahmad Rashidy Razali expressed appreciation to NI Malaysia for its ongoing support in bringing cutting-edge technologies and industry exposure to UiTM students. He highlighted the value of collaborative activities in equipping graduates to remain competitive and industry-ready.
Mrs. Noor Azian Abdull Wahab reaffirmed NI’s commitment to enhancing graduate quality and urged students to embrace opportunities that build their skills and confidence to compete globally.
This partnership reflects UiTM’s unwavering commitment to producing globally competitive graduates and fostering innovation through meaningful industry engagement. Together, UiTM and NI Malaysia are paving the way for a future where academic excellence and industrial relevance go hand in hand.
