Simple Sampling ; eSUD

9th January 2019 – Institute of Quality and Knowledge Advancement (InQKA) has succeeded in creating a system named ‘eSUD’ which stand for Electronic Sampling of University Data that can generate a set of randomize university data based on the whole population of the university. eSUD uses Sample Size formula data obtained to calculate a set of samples from a set of populations. The data obtained from the sample helps to draw inferences about the population itself. However, collecting research of the complete information about the population is not possible and it is time consuming and expensive.

Prof. Dr. Roziah Mohd Janor, the Assistant Vice Chancellor of InQKA expressed her gratification on the completion of the system which has been in development since September 2018. It was her idea that such system need to be developed to replace the manual process that is currently used. The idea was her taken up by Assistant Research Officer in InQKA, Puan Norhasnida Mohamad who has a lot of experience working with Anugerah Kualiti Naib Canselor (AKNC) data. In four months, a team consisting of Encik Azizian Mohd Sapawi, Head of Website in Web Media Department (JWM) InQKA and practical students work hard to make this happen.

She stated that “The system will be the pioneer in changing the old system that embraced manual sorting and calculation for the last 15 years. eSUD will definitely become a great help to the researcher in charge”. She added that the system will be enhance according to the need of the researchers.

The practical students involved are Nur Humairah Aini Bt Mohd Fidzal and Wan Noor Aqilah Binti Wan Bunyamin Zakry are from the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Science (FSKM) in Jasin Campus, Melaka pursuing Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons.) Multimedia Computing and Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons.) Netcentric Computing respectively. They both will graduate in March 2019.

The system is set to be launched in July 2019 in preparation for the Anugerah Kualiti Naib Canselor 2019 (AKNC 2019) that will be set to kick off around November 2019.
