Short Course on Geomechanics Tunnel Engineering and Project Management

For the past years, tunnel has been the hallmark of Malaysia infrastructure modernization and part of the landscape especially in Klang Valley in line with SDG 9 and SDG 11. Hence, continuous education and training in this specialized area are timely for Malaysia to build up human talent for sustainability of these infrastructures. This short course is supported by Asea Uninet for the collaboration between Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Graz University of Technology as member universities. The specialized training in geomechanics is related to tunnel engineering and project management shall be led by renowned professors from Austria, whose involvement in the development of the NATM and had vast experiences in education, training, research and publications related to tunnel engineering. The course contents are as stated.
Participants from all professions who are interested to enhance their knowledge in the design, construction and management of tunnel project are welcome. The participant will get copy of the following materials:
a) Guideline for the Geotechnical Design of Underground Structures with Conventional Excavation ,2010. Austrian Society for Geomechanics.
b) The Austrian Practice of NATM Tunnelling Contracts, 2011. Austrian Society for Geomechanics.
c) Handbook of Geotechnical Monitoring in Conventional Tunnelling. 2014.
At the end of the course, the participant shall get certification of training as acknowledgement for CCPD.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Engineer, geologist, project manager, consultant, contractor, government and local agencies, academia, researcher, students, and who are directly and indirectly involve in the engineering education, planning, design, construction and maintenance of tunnel and underground cavern.
